Straighten Document¶
Turn a photo of a page, receipt, or document into a flatter, straighter image. MenuSmith processes it locally, lets you review and adjust the page, and saves a new copy beside the original.
- Access: MenuSmith Pro
- Finder availability: PNG, JPEG, HEIC/HEIF, TIFF & WebP images
See the Straighten Document overview and screenshots on the MenuSmith website.
Add and configure¶
- Open Action Library and find Straighten Document.
- Choose a starter configuration and add it to My Finder Menu.
- Select the new Menu Action and review its settings and availability rules in the Inspector.
- Run it from a matching Finder context.
Settings¶
- Enhancement: Auto, Color, or Grayscale
- Review Before Saving
Starter configurations¶
- Straighten Document
- Straighten & Review
- Straighten in Grayscale
- Straighten in Color
Starter configurations set initial values only. Adding one does not permanently link the Menu Action to that starter.
What it can do¶
- Automatically straighten and flatten photographed pages on your Mac
- Choose Auto, Color, or Grayscale enhancement
- Review page boundaries and inside-page points, rotate, zoom, and undo adjustments
- Process multiple images and save new copies without replacing the originals
Typical workflow¶
- Add a Straighten Document starter
- Choose Enhancement and enable Review Before Saving if you want to inspect the results
- Select supported document photos in Finder and run the Action
- If reviewing, adjust each page and choose Straighten & Save or Straighten & Save All
Important details¶
- Outputs keep the source image format and use a -straightened filename suffix with safe automatic naming.
- Images must be no larger than 40 megapixels or 16,384 pixels on either side. Multi-image containers are not supported.
- Automatic results depend on the photo; use Review Before Saving to inspect and correct the page.
- Saving requires Authorized Folder access. All image processing stays on your Mac.
If MenuSmith asks for access, review Authorized Folders. If the Action does not appear, check Finder Integration and the Menu Action's availability rules.
