New Folder from Template

Create project folders with the same dependable structure every time. MenuSmith stores an independent template that you can edit with its built-in folder editor.

  • Access: MenuSmith Pro
  • Finder availability: Folders, Folder background

See the New Folder from Template overview and screenshots on the MenuSmith website.

Add and configure

  1. Open Action Library and find New Folder from Template.
  2. Choose a starter configuration and add it to My Finder Menu.
  3. Select the new Menu Action and review its settings and availability rules in the Inspector.
  4. Run it from a matching Finder context.

Settings

  • Created Folder Name
  • Template Folder
  • Edit Template

Starter configurations

  • New Kanban Folder
  • New Video Project Folder
  • New Podcast Episode Folder
  • New Data Project Folder
  • New Website Folder

Starter configurations set initial values only. Adding one does not permanently link the Menu Action to that starter.

What it can do

  • Create complete nested folders and starter files
  • Edit the template with drag and drop
  • Use the built-in project starters or your own structure
  • Create one copy in every selected folder without overwriting existing items

Typical workflow

  1. Choose a folder starter
  2. Edit its structure and output name
  3. Run it from a Finder folder

Important details

  • Each added Menu Action owns an independent copy of its folder template.
  • MenuSmith reveals the newly created folder in Finder after a successful run.

If MenuSmith asks for access, review Authorized Folders. If the Action does not appear, check Finder Integration and the Menu Action's availability rules.
