Find Large Files¶
Start a focused storage scan from the folder you are already looking at. Results appear as MenuSmith discovers them, with Quick Look, Get Info, reveal, open, and reviewed Trash actions.
- Access: MenuSmith Pro
- Finder availability: Single folder, Folder background
See the Find Large Files overview and screenshots on the MenuSmith website.
Add and configure¶
- Open Action Library and find Find Large Files.
- Choose a starter configuration and add it to My Finder Menu.
- Select the new Menu Action and review its settings and availability rules in the Inspector.
- Run it from a matching Finder context.
Settings¶
- Show
- Minimum File Size
- Number of Results
- Search Subfolders
Starter configurations¶
- Largest Files
- Files Over 1 GB
- This Folder Only
Starter configurations set initial values only. Adding one does not permanently link the Menu Action to that starter.
What it can do¶
- Show the largest files or compare child folders
- Choose a minimum size and result count
- Include or exclude subfolders
- Quick Look, reveal, open, Get Info, or review before Trash
Typical workflow¶
- Right-click the folder to inspect
- Watch matching results appear during the scan
- Open, reveal, or review an item before moving it to Trash
Important details¶
- Moving an item to Trash always asks for confirmation.
- Unavailable, unreadable, and cloud-only items are reported without stopping the rest of the scan.
If MenuSmith asks for access, review Authorized Folders. If the Action does not appear, check Finder Integration and the Menu Action's availability rules.
