Use uniform-background detection for images surrounded by a consistent border, or let Automatic choose the appropriate approach.

Handle a selection in one go

Crop multiple images together. New copies are created for images with removable borders; images without them are left alone.

Start with Automatic detection and Balanced color tolerance. Adjust the same Action in the Inspector for transparent padding or uniform backgrounds.

Starter configurations

Auto Crop Image

Each starter becomes an independent Action that you can customize.

In the Inspector

Detection: Choose Automatic (the default), Transparent Borders, or Uniform Background.
Color Tolerance: Choose Exact for identical colors, Balanced (the default) for slight variation, or Flexible for more similar shades. Available with Automatic and Uniform Background; transparent-border detection is unaffected.

Available for

One or more selected PNG, JPEG, HEIC/HEIF, TIFF, or WebP images. Every selected item must be a supported image file; folders and other file types prevent the Action from appearing. Multi-frame images are not supported.

Good to know

Flexible can also trim pale borders close to the background color. Use Balanced or Exact to preserve finer color differences.

This trims detectable outer borders. It does not choose a creative composition or remove a subject’s background.
