Effective October 12, 2026
MenuSmith is developed by Sahar Radomsky, doing business as Shiftbright Software. This policy explains how the MenuSmith macOS application and menusmith.app handle information.
MenuSmith for Mac
MenuSmith’s built-in file Actions, including its AI document processing, run locally on your Mac. Your files, file contents, Finder selections, clipboard contents, scripts, and app settings are not sent to us. We do not have access to them.
Your menu configuration, preferences, backups, and permissions are stored on your Mac so the app can work. If you choose a backup or output folder managed by a cloud storage service, that service may sync those files under your own settings.
macOS does not automatically give a sandboxed app access to files selected through a Finder right-click menu. MenuSmith uses Authorized Folders so you can explicitly grant access to locations needed by file Actions. Those permissions are stored locally as macOS security-scoped bookmarks and can be reviewed or repaired from MenuSmith settings.
Purchases
Pro purchases and restores are handled by Apple through the Mac App Store. MenuSmith verifies your purchase on your Mac and stores the information needed to keep Pro available locally. We do not receive your payment details or send your purchase records to our servers. Apple handles information under its privacy policy. MenuSmith uses Apple’s standard End User License Agreement.
Content delivery
Some content in the app, such as feature preview videos, is delivered through Cloudflare’s content delivery network. When the app downloads this content, Cloudflare processes your IP address and standard request information to deliver the files and protect the service. We do not access, store, or use this request information, or link it to you. Cloudflare acts as our service provider under its privacy policy.
Custom Script
Custom Script runs source that you explicitly provide. MenuSmith does not download script packs or add hidden scripts. Your own scripts may interact with other apps or services according to what you write. Script source, arguments, paths, standard output, and standard error are not included in persistent support logs.
Support diagnostics
macOS may separately send crash reports and analytics to Apple if you enable sharing in system settings. Apple may share relevant reports with us if you also enable sharing with app developers. These choices are managed by macOS; see Apple’s guide to sharing analytics information.
MenuSmith keeps limited support logs locally on your Mac. They contain basic app status and sanitized diagnostic events, not file paths, filenames, file contents, clipboard contents, script source, credentials, or purchase payloads. You can turn logging off or delete existing logs in Settings. Logs are limited to seven days and 5 MB.
A support package is created locally only after you confirm what it includes. You can review it or save a copy. Choosing Email Support opens your email app with the package attached; you choose the recipient and whether to send it. Nothing is uploaded or sent automatically. If you contact us, we use the message and any information you choose to share to help with your request.
The MenuSmith website
The website is separate from the Mac app. Links to Help and this policy open in your browser. Cloudflare hosts and protects the website and processes standard connection information for delivery and security. The website forms below collect only information you choose to submit, together with the limited technical context described here.
Contact messages
When you submit the website contact form, we receive the name, email address, subject, and message you provide, along with a timestamp, the website hostname, and a country code supplied by Cloudflare. The submission is delivered to a private Google Chat space used by Shiftbright Software for support. Do not include secrets or sensitive file contents in your message.
Update subscriptions
When you submit the update form, we receive the email address you provide, a timestamp, the website hostname, and a country code supplied by Cloudflare. The website forwards that request to a private Google Chat space so we can manage update requests.
Spam protection
The contact and update forms use Cloudflare Turnstile and rate limiting to reduce abuse. Cloudflare processes technical request information, including an IP address for verification and rate limiting, under its privacy policy. We do not include your IP address in the messages delivered to Google Chat.
Retention and sharing
Contact messages, update requests, and support information you choose to send us are retained only as long as reasonably needed to respond, manage your request, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information. We share information only with service providers needed to handle these requests or operate the website, or when required by law.
Your choices
You may ask us to review or delete a contact message, update request, or support submission by using the contact form and identifying the email address involved. We may need to retain limited records when required for security, legal, or operational reasons.
Changes
We may update this policy when MenuSmith or its website changes. The effective date above identifies the current version.
